Craft Show Stock

Working lately on stock for my largest craft show of the year.  The show is not until November, but life will be busy in September and October with commitments, so I am getting as much done NOW as possible.

My focus for this show will be on sewers with lots of pin cushions, scissor keepers, Crazy quilting caddies and needle books, along with my hand embroidered hoot art and a few other offerings.

Boho? Boho Friday Finds!

Just what is boho style?  I have wondered at the definition.  I know that it is literally 'Bohemian'  style, and people often refer to it as gypsy or hippie style, but I have seen so many things included in "Boho" style, that it's confusing.   So, I did some research.  First from Wikipedia:

Bohemianism is the practice of an unconventional lifestyle, often in the company of like-minded people, with few permanent ties, involving musical, artistic, or literary pursuits. In this context, Bohemians may be wanderers, adventurers, or vagabonds.

Doctor Watson has noted that Sherlock Holmes "loathed every form of society with his whole Bohemian soul" and "remained in our lodgings in Baker-street, buried among his old books"  He basically did "his own thing"*
*In Arthur Conan Doyle's first short story about Holmes for The Strand

I love the character of Sherlock Holmes but never thought of him as 'bohemian'.  But the character was someone who had the ability to appreciate intricacies at a deeper level than most and didn't limit himself.

So I have come to the conclusion, that tho I don't necessarily dress in a boho style, I am certainly bohemian at heart! Another resource I read (sorry, don't remember where) said that the world is one's own creation, instead of living in a box.  I always said, when  was growing up that if you put me in a box, I would promptly jump out!
And I find that I do this from time to time with my creativity and with changes in my lifestyle!

So as a finish to this post, I am offering my latest creation to today's finds.  Mine is definitely "out of the box"! And can be worn as a bracelet or a necklace!  How's that for BOHO!

Life lately . . .

I haven't posted since late June, so what have I been up to???

My "ironing board"--not really used for ironing--is full of projects!  I have been creating!!!!

Embroidery, jewelry, textile art, and custom curtains for a client's boat (on the floor under the ironing board!)  I really hadn't done much creativity for quite a while, since I was finishing up my first novel. While it was being edited and reviewed, I took a break from everything, took a cruise, house sat for a friend, and finally, I was ready to create again!

The piece on the right of my ironing board was inspired by two little fabric scraps, turned out like this and is listed in my shop:

Also working on a few more project for art hoops:

And the other two projects on the ironing board are part of a batch of felt needle books that I made. (Also made some cute pin cushions--not pictuted.)  Not sure if I will be listing them in my shop, since I am featuring items for sewers at my biggest show of the year in November, and these will be part of my stock.

The other piece on my "ironing board' is a textile jewelry piece that I will be showcasing in Friday's post.  See you then!

Abigail Jayne Art is reopening on Etsy!

I'm excited about offering my textile art and wrist cuffs again!  Also working on several new projects that I will be sharing here in the blog in the near future.   It's been a long while since I have done this type of creating, since I was busy writing my first novel.  (More about my book in my other blog when it is available.)
